Who this is for

Growing up is harder than it looks. This group gets it. Teen support group

The National Institute of Mental Health reports that half of all lifetime mental health conditions begin by age 14. Adolescence and young adulthood bring real pressure — school, social belonging, family dynamics, identity, and the weight of figuring out who you are and where you’re going.

This group is designed for:

  • Teens ages 13–18 facing stress, anxiety, or peer and family challenges
  • Young adults ages 18–25 navigating college, early career, and major life transitions
  • Anyone feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure how to manage their emotions
  • Teens and young adults who want to build confidence and real-world coping skills
What members gain

Skills, connection, and the knowledge that you’re not alone.

According to the American Psychological Association, peer-based support is especially powerful for adolescents — providing normalization, role modeling, and a sense of belonging that family or adult relationships alone cannot replicate.

Coping with Stress & Anxiety

Practical techniques for managing academic pressure, social anxiety, and the day-to-day stress of adolescent and young adult life. See also: anxiety counseling at MindLift.

Confidence & Self-Esteem

Activities and guided discussions that help group members recognize their strengths, challenge self-critical thinking, and build genuine confidence — not just performance.

Emotional Regulation

Tools for recognizing, naming, and managing difficult emotions — anger, sadness, anxiety, overwhelm — without shutting down or acting out.

Communication Skills

How to express needs clearly, navigate conflict, set boundaries, and have honest conversations — with peers, parents, and partners.

Identity & Belonging

A space to explore who you are — values, identity, culture, relationships — without pressure to have it all figured out. This group meets you in the middle of the questions.

Peer Support

The experience of being truly heard by people your own age — and realizing others share your struggles — can be one of the most powerful parts of the group.

Common questions

About this group

Does a teen need parental consent to join?

Yes — for participants under 18, parental or guardian consent is required. Parents are not present in group sessions, but we will walk you through the intake process and consent requirements when you contact us.

Can a teen do both group therapy and individual therapy?

Absolutely — and many teens benefit from both. Individual teen therapy provides one-on-one depth; group therapy adds peer connection and social skill-building. We can help coordinate both.

Is this group confidential?

Yes, within the limits of the law. Group members sign a confidentiality agreement at the start of the program. Therapists are mandated reporters and will explain mandatory reporting obligations during intake.

Where and when does the group meet?

Sessions are available in-person at our McKinney, TX office and online across Texas. Contact us at (972) 855-8183 or via our contact form for current scheduling and availability.
