How partnership works

What partnership with MindLift looks like

New partner relationships begin with a brief introductory call or meeting — typically 30 minutes — where we learn about your organization’s referral needs, client population, and communication preferences. From that conversation, we establish a simple referral workflow that fits your existing processes. Most partners use our online referral portal; others prefer direct phone or email intake depending on volume and urgency.

All referrals are tracked through our intake system. Referring partners receive a confirmation within one business day that the referral has been received and the client has been contacted. For clinical partners who require feedback on client progress, we work with clients to obtain written consent for communication back to the referring organization — a brief status update at 30 days and quarterly thereafter, unless clinical circumstances require more frequent contact.

Confidentiality is the foundation of any clinical partnership. We never share client information beyond what has been explicitly consented to, and we maintain documentation standards that meet or exceed Texas and federal requirements. All clinicians are licensed through the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.

What partnership looks like in practice

Partnerships built on shared purpose, not paperwork

The most effective partnerships in behavioral health are grounded in a shared understanding of the client population you serve, clear expectations about communication, and a referral process that does not create additional burden for your team. MindLift Alliance has designed its partnership intake process with that in mind. We do not require extensive onboarding documentation or legal agreements for most partner types — a brief introductory conversation is typically sufficient to establish a working relationship.

For employer partnerships, we can provide on-site or virtual lunch-and-learn sessions on mental health topics relevant to your workforce — stress and burnout, recognizing mental health struggles in colleagues, and how to talk to a family member who may need support. These sessions are offered as part of our employer partnership model and are designed to reduce stigma and increase utilization of mental health services before issues escalate to crisis. The National Institute of Mental Health has documented that untreated mental health conditions cost U.S. employers an estimated $1 trillion annually in lost productivity — early intervention through workplace mental health partnerships is one of the most evidence-supported strategies for reducing that burden.

For faith community and nonprofit partners, we understand that the populations you serve often face significant barriers to accessing traditional mental health care — cost, stigma, cultural mismatch, or simply not knowing how to navigate the mental health system. We offer sliding-scale fees and bilingual services (English/Mandarin) to reduce those barriers. See our services overview and our Chinese mental health services page for more about the populations we serve.

Common questions

Partnership

Do you offer revenue sharing or referral fees?

No. We do not participate in financial referral arrangements, which are prohibited under Texas behavioral health licensing regulations and most professional ethics codes. Our referral partnerships are built entirely on mutual trust and the quality of the care we provide. The only consideration we ask from referring partners is that you refer clients who are appropriate for the level of care we offer — outpatient therapy and online classes — and that you communicate clearly when clients require a higher level of care than we can provide.

How quickly can referred clients be seen?

Most referred clients are contacted within one business day and scheduled for their first appointment within one week. For urgent referrals — such as a client in acute distress or a court-ordered requirement with a deadline — call us directly at (972) 855-8183 and we will expedite the process. We will always be transparent about our current capacity and waitlist status so you can plan accordingly. If our current capacity does not allow us to see a client within a reasonable timeframe, we will not simply place the client on a waitlist without guidance — we will proactively connect them with other appropriate providers so they are not left without care.

What documentation do you provide back to referring partners?

For clinical partners (physicians, schools, courts), we provide treatment summaries, progress notes, and court documentation with the client’s written consent. For employers and EAP providers, we provide attendance and completion confirmation per EAP contract requirements. For court-ordered classes, we provide detailed certificates of completion with facilitator credentials, program description, and hours documentation suitable for court submission. Documentation format can be customized to meet your organization’s requirements.

We are a small nonprofit — is partnership realistic for organizations without dedicated HR?

Yes. Some of our most productive partnerships are with small nonprofits, faith communities, and community organizations that do not have formal HR departments or complex referral infrastructure. In those cases, partnership typically means a single point of contact at your organization who can send clients our way and knows to call us when a client needs help navigating the system. We adapt to your capacity, not the other way around. If you serve a population that could benefit from mental health support and you want them to have a trusted place to land, reach out and we will figure out together what makes sense.
