Why online therapy?

Quality therapy — without the commute, the waiting room, or the scheduling headache.

Texas online therapy through MindLift Alliance means you get the same licensed, evidence-based care as an in-person session — on your schedule, in your space. As long as you’re physically in Texas, you can work with any of our licensed Texas therapists via secure video.

Research consistently shows that online therapy produces outcomes equivalent to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, couples counseling, and most other presenting concerns. The convenience of telehealth also reduces no-show rates and dropout — meaning you’re more likely to complete treatment and get better.

How online therapy sessions work at MindLift Alliance
How it works

What to expect from a Texas telehealth session.

Sessions are held through our secure, HIPAA-compliant client portal — no special software needed. You’ll receive a link before your appointment, click it on any device (phone, tablet, or computer), and connect directly with your therapist via encrypted video.

Before your first session you’ll complete intake forms online through the portal — insurance info, consent forms, and a brief clinical history. Your therapist reviews these ahead of time so session one goes straight to your concerns. Sessions are typically 50 minutes. If you’re filing insurance, we handle the billing directly. You can also access session notes and homework through the portal between sessions. Contact us if you have technical questions before your first appointment.

Common questions

Texas online therapy FAQs

Is online therapy in Texas as effective as in-person?

Yes. A large body of research shows that telehealth therapy produces equivalent outcomes to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, PTSD, couples issues, and most other presenting concerns. The American Psychological Association supports telehealth as an effective delivery model for most mental health services.

Do I need to be in Texas for online therapy?

Yes. Under Texas licensing law, you must be physically located in Texas to receive services from a Texas-licensed therapist. If you travel outside Texas, notify your therapist — sessions must pause or transfer to a provider licensed in your temporary state.

Does insurance cover online therapy in Texas?

Most major insurance plans cover telehealth therapy at the same rate as in-person sessions. MindLift Alliance accepts Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Ascension SmartHealth. See our full insurance list.

What services are available online?

All of our individual, couples, teen, and family therapy services are available online. Group therapy sessions are also available virtually. The only services requiring in-person attendance are certain psychological assessments — call us to confirm if you have a specific assessment need.
