Therapy for Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and Relationship Challenges
Hi, I’m Wen, a licensed clinical psychologist in Texas dedicated to helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, identity development, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the deeper work of cultivating self-compassion. I work with people who are carrying persistent struggles, moving through significant transitions, or living through seasons that feel unclear, heavy, or difficult to name. Whether you have been holding something for years or are only beginning to feel its weight, I want you to know this: meaningful change is absolutely possible. Sometimes, it simply begins with a little discovery.
A Compassionate Approach Using EFT, ACT, and Interpersonal Process Work
My therapeutic approach integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and interpersonal process work, all woven together by a common thread of compassion. Together, we work toward building a different relationship with distress, deepening your sense of self, and helping you live in greater alignment with your values. I also see the therapeutic relationship itself as an important part of the work, a space where interpersonal patterns can be explored, understood, and transformed in ways that strengthen how you relate to both others and yourself.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: you already possess the capacity for meaningful change. My role is to help you discover and activate those inner resources through genuine partnership, thoughtful exploration, and a steady, compassionate presence.
Cultural humility is central to my practice.
Your identity, heritage, and lived experiences are not merely the backdrop of your story; they are essential to who you are. In our work together, I take care to understand your background and how it shapes your values, relationships, and the way you move through the world. This is not something I simply check off. It is woven into every part of the therapeutic process. I ask thoughtful questions, acknowledge what I may not yet know, and approach your narrative with deep respect and a sincere willingness to explore alongside you.
Education and Clinical Background
Growing up in Malaysia before settling in Texas has given me a cross-cultural sensibility that continues to shape both my practice and my life. I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri–Kansas City, and I have trained across community mental health centers, university counseling centers, and psychiatric settings. These experiences continue to inform the way I support clients from diverse backgrounds with care, humility, and clinical depth.
Outside of clinical work, I’m a devoted coffee and tea enthusiast, an enthusiastic cook, and someone who enjoys meaningful conversations about travel and culture.
Building a Strong Therapeutic Alliance
What matters most to me is the therapeutic alliance. I consider it a privilege to witness the quiet strength and profound resilience people carry, especially in their most vulnerable moments. Finding a therapist with whom you feel genuinely connected is foundational to healing and growth. If this resonates with you, I would welcome the chance to work together.
