Who this is for

Trauma leaves marks. Healing doesn’t have to happen alone.

The National Institute of Mental Health recognizes that trauma can have lasting effects on emotional regulation, relationships, and overall health. This group provides a structured, clinician-led environment where adults can process trauma safely — without having to navigate it in isolation.

This group is a good fit for adults who are:

  • Healing from past traumatic experiences — including childhood trauma, relational trauma, or acute events
  • Living with PTSD symptoms: flashbacks, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, or avoidance
  • Struggling with shame, fear, or a persistent sense of being unsafe
  • Looking for support that combines clinical guidance with peer connection
  • Ready to begin or deepen their healing work in a group setting
What members gain

Practical tools and the healing power of connection.

Licensed therapists lead each session with compassion and structure. The American Psychological Association highlights the value of group modalities in trauma treatment — including reduced shame, improved emotional regulation, and a restored sense of safety.

Understanding Trauma

Learn how trauma affects the nervous system, memory, and emotional responses — so you can understand your own reactions with more compassion and less self-blame.

Grounding & Stabilization

Evidence-based grounding and self-regulation techniques to manage flashbacks, dissociation, and overwhelm in real time.

Processing Safely

A guided, titrated approach to processing traumatic memories — at a pace and depth that feels manageable, without re-traumatizing.

Identifying Triggers

Develop awareness of personal triggers and build healthier, more intentional responses — so trauma history drives your behavior less and your values drive it more.

Rebuilding Trust & Safety

Through the group itself — and the skills practiced within it — members rebuild internal and relational safety over time.

Peer Connection

Sharing space with others who understand the weight of trauma — without having to explain everything — can itself be a powerful part of healing.

Common questions

About trauma recovery group therapy

Is group therapy safe for trauma survivors?

Yes, when led by trained trauma therapists. MindLift’s group uses a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety, choice, and pacing. Members are never pushed to share more than they’re ready to. If you have concerns, our therapist will discuss the group format with you before you join.

Can I do group therapy and individual therapy at the same time?

Yes — and many trauma survivors benefit from both. Individual trauma therapy provides deeper one-on-one processing, while group therapy offers the unique benefits of peer support and normalization. We can help you coordinate both if needed.

What types of trauma does this group address?

The group is open to adults healing from a range of traumatic experiences — including childhood trauma, abuse, neglect, accidents, loss, relational trauma, and acute PTSD. During an intake conversation, our therapist will confirm that the group is a good fit for your specific situation.
